Using the Dashcam Chrome Extension you can quickly attach clips to Jira.
What you need:
An active Dashcam account. Join the beta here
Download and install Dashcam on a Mac or Windows device
Chrome or a chromium-based browser
First, install the extension at the Chrome web store or use our tutorial on how to install it.
Confirm that you are logged in to the Dashcam desktop application and it is actively recording.
Note that it says "Recording". If it's not actively recording, it will use the most recently uploaded clip.
Next, go to your Jira software project. Find an issue that you want to attach a clip to. Here's an example issue on Jira:
Click on the issue which, in this example, is REP-6.
The issue will popup, and you will see that the Dashcam Chrome extension provides a button to interact with the Dashcam desktop application.
Click "Attach Clip" to upload a clip.
A prompt will appear asking to access the Dashcam desktop app. You can click "Always allow..." to not see the message again. Then click "Open Dashcam".
If you have recently uploaded a clip, you can click one of them in the dropdown.
Either select a clip that was already made to upload or click "Create Clip". Here's more on how to create a clip
Once the new clip uploaded, the Dashcam desktop application will open a new tab in your browser with the clip on dashcam.io.
At the same time, the Dashcam Chrome extension will copy a share link to the clip and automatically attach it to the Jira issue. Make sure to add context to the video for your team!
Click "Save" to post the message to the Jira Issue.
Congratulations, you uploaded and attached a clip to Jira with the Dashcam Chrome extension!
